This is the offecial web site of the 33rd Negombo Maris Stella College Scouts Group. This website will provide all that you need to know about the Maris Stella College Scouts Group which has a rich and eventful history of over 50 long years, about the achievements of the Group and about the fun filled activities planed out for the comming year. We are a group that lives in brotherhood and peace with all the scout troops of Sri Lanka showing the humble scout spirit which a scout should have.   • B.P Day Celebration 2013

    2013 B.P.s' Day Celebrations of the Negombo Scout District was held at Maris Stella College grounds on the 22nd of February 2013 remembering the 156th birthday of our Founder Lord Baden Powell. This occasion was held with the participation of the Negombo District Commissioner Elmo Rowel, Scout and Cub Leaders and all the Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts in the District.

    The statue of BP was gralended by Our Rev.Bro Principal Sunanda Alwis and District Commissioner Elmo Rowel. Many activities was organized by the Scouts of Maris Stella College to make this day a memorable day to all the participants. Especially the Ariel runaway, and the Cub Scout quiz Competition was appreciated by many of them.

New Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific Region appointed

In agreement with the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee, Scott Teare, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, has appointed Mr. J. Rizal Pangilinan, 50 years old, from Morong, Rizal, Philippines, as the new Regional Director for the World Scout Bureau Asia-Pacific Regional Office.

  • Scout Quiz Exploration Contest 2013

    We the Scouts of Maris Stella College organized a Quiz Competition remarking the B.P. Day on the 22nd of February 2013 during the school time with the participation of both primary and main sections in our school. Two different general knowledge Quiz's were given to the students to be completed in both primary and secondary sections. More than 500 students answered the Quiz at the primary section and 8 got the opportunity to answer all 10 questions correctly. At the Senior section more than 800 students answered the Quiz and 2 students answered it correctly. The winners were given a valuable certificate. This Quiz contest was recognized the highest student participation Quiz competition in the school in recent times.

  • Negombo Scout Head Quarters Building Project

    Negombo District Scout Association has launched a new project to build its Headquarters in the heart of Negombo City.
    We have received a 47perch block of land at Kadokelle (Behind the Private Bus Termainal ) from the Negombo Municipal Council in return of the previous premises used until 1990 at 42, Balfour road Negombo.
    Laying of foundation Stone was held by the Chief Scout Commissioner on 17 July 2010.

    Rajans International Scout Gathering of Centennial or RISGO Centennial 2013 was an international Scout Jamboree held on 18th to 22nd February 2013, marking the 100 years of the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group, at the Lake View Park International Scout Centre in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

    In sri lanka the first time make the Largest Scout Scarf. But the world largest scout scarf is recoded in 1st of May 2010, Tunisia Scout Association recorded in Guinness World Records by conducting the Biggest Scouting Scarf in the world. The scarf which is a big collection of all credited colors of the formal Tunisian scouting uniform is 587.5 square meters with a base of 47 meters; the two sides are 35.5 & 35.20 meters and the high is 25 meters. The named Tunisian scouting scarf breaks the previous record number which was recorded by the English Scouting Association.

    The jamboree's theme is 'Towards Global Leadership' and there will be attractive and adventurous events such as hiking, water activities, sight-seeing, forest expedition, adventure activities, leadership building activities, campfires, cultural presentations and colourful opening and closing ceremonies.

    The tour organized for the foreign participants to witness Sri Lanka's development projects and historical values will be a main feature in the RISGO program.

    Asia Pacific Region Scout Commissioner, Abdullah Rasheed will open the RISGO World Jamboree on the 18th and Namal Rajapaksa MP will be the chief guest at International Night to be held with all the overseas participants on the 20th.

    A long range of activities such as special ceremonies, international night, camp fires, cultural shows, friendship games, adventure and exploration activities, team building events and open air display were prepared giving the participants a new exciting experiences.
